Professional Instructor Career for Certified Experts: Develop Portable Professional Instructor Capability

Associate and Expert-level technical credentials demonstrate valuable subject-matter expertise. But knowing the technology and developing capability in other people are different skills.

Professional context

For Decades, Microsoft Professionals Came to FDTEC to Learn How to Teach What They Knew.

Practical application

That history matters. But it is the beginning of the story—not the end.

Knowledge transfer

For many years, technically certified Microsoft professionals pursued MCT as the next step when they wanted to develop an instructional role. FDTEC helped develop those professional instructional capabilities for more than 25 years.

Career opportunity

The Microsoft MCT pathway has since changed. Microsoft now controls its own current MCT qualification, onboarding, enrollment, and renewal requirements.

FCI develops 15 transferable professional instructor competencies: communication, active listening, facilitation, emotional intelligence, presentation, questioning, classroom management, conflict resolution, executive presence, coaching, feedback, adaptability, critical thinking, problem solving, and knowledge transfer.

Applying Instructor Capability in This Professional Context

Associate and Expert-level technical credentials demonstrate valuable subject-matter expertise. But knowing the technology and developing capability in other people are different skills.

For Decades, Microsoft Professionals Came to FDTEC to Learn How to Teach What They Knew.

That history matters. But it is the beginning of the story—not the end.

For many years, technically certified Microsoft professionals pursued MCT as the next step when they wanted to develop an instructional role. FDTEC helped develop those professional instructional capabilities for more than 25 years.

The Microsoft MCT pathway has since changed. Microsoft now controls its own current MCT qualification, onboarding, enrollment, and renewal requirements.

What has not changed is the professional problem: technical expertise alone does not automatically make someone an effective instructor, facilitator, coach, presenter, consultant, or knowledge-transfer professional.

25+ Years Taught Us the Difference Between Knowing Technology and Developing People.

FDTEC has been developing the people behind technology learning since 1999.

Before Microsoft moved MCT instructional-skills development in-house, FDTEC was the longest-serving provider.

That experience gave us decades of insight into what happens when technically capable professionals must explain complex ideas, engage different audiences, answer difficult questions, facilitate learning, coach performance, and help knowledge become application.

FDTEC was the longest-serving provider of MCT instructional-skills development before Microsoft moved that function in-house.

Cross-platform, cross-functional professional instructor development.

FDTEC's perspective was not developed inside a single technology silo.

Our experience across major technology and professional ecosystems reinforced a fundamental lesson: technology changes faster than the human capabilities required to help people learn it.

Technical Mastery Is the Foundation. Human Capability Is the Multiplier.

Earning an Associate or Expert-level technical credential takes discipline. That expertise matters.

The next professional question is: Can you make that expertise useful to someone else?

Explain, demonstrate, facilitate, question, listen, coach, and guide.
