Look across almost any organization and you will find people developing other people
Look across almost any organization and you will find people developing other people.
Some are trainers. Some are facilitators. Some are coaches. Some are managers. Some are technical experts. Some are sales enablement professionals. Some are clinical educators. Some are customer educators. Some are implementation specialists.
Their titles differ. Their expertise differs. Their departments differ.
But many share one responsibility: transferring knowledge and developing capability in other people.

Subject-Matter Expertise and Professional Instructor Capability Are Not the Same Thing.
Your Organization Hires People Because of What They Know and Can Do.
A healthcare organization needs healthcare expertise
A healthcare organization needs healthcare expertise. A technology company needs technical expertise. A sales organization needs sales expertise. A government agency needs mission expertise. A university needs academic and professional expertise. A manufacturing organization needs operational expertise.
A Different Capability Is Required When They Must Develop Other People.
Knowing the subject does not automatically establish the ability to:
Multiple Disciplines Should Not Require Multiple Instructor-Development Strategies.
The subject matter should differ
The subject matter should differ. The professional instructor foundation does not necessarily need to.
The Organization Does Not Need to Standardize the Subject Matter.
Technical training should remain technical. Sales training should remain commercial. Clinical education should remain clinical. Customer education should remain product- and customer-specific. Government learning should remain mission-specific.
The goal is to create a shared professional instructor layer around them.
